Heartfelt Updates from My Farmstead and Snowflakes Series

Hello book lover friends, and all!

Whew! It’s been awhile. But I’m back. Just wanted to update everyone about how things are going with me, the Snowflakes series and the farmstead. Lots of things have happened.

On the farmstead…my heart was broken…several times. There is a saying, “When it rains it pours!” That certainly happened on our small farmstead.

The sad farm news is, our beautiful peacock Hank, that I loved, left months ago, and hasn’t returned.

Is it crazy for me to worry about an animal that just showed up one day? Is it crazy that I prayed for his return?

I totally did pray for him because I fell in love and talked to him every day. I thought he loved me too! Our cat Rowdy jumped at him and scared him. Hank took off over the field squawking, flapping his huge wings and running ninety miles an hour. I never dreamed he would not come back. I had bought him a wife! It is worrisome not knowing what happened to him. I even learned the peacock yell! I called to him and Jasmine, the peahen wife I bought him, every morning for breakfast.

Y’all, the next thing that happened disturbed me and made me cry. A possum, bobcat or something climbed my chicken fence (5 foot dog fencing) the other night and ravaged my ducks, Peter and Paulette along with Gustaf and Lucy Goosey, my geese.

They loved roosting up under the fig tree in the pens. I never dreamed something like that would happen!

The only way something could get into that pen was to climb over it. I was devastated. I still don’t know what it was.

We planted two apple trees in honor of Gustaf and Lucy Goosey, a Honey Crisp apple, and an Anna apple tree in our budding orchard. For Peter and Paulette it was a peach tree and a plum tree. And, last but not least, Jasmine, our peahen up and left also. All I have left is my cheeky-chick chickens, which I am grateful for.

Mr. Hank Peabody, our peacock. Gone but not forgotten!

Even after we put up a camera, we could not get a picture of that evil perpetrator. Mornings are not the same when I go to the pens. It pains my heart. I miss my feathered friends. But my cheeky-chicks rely on me to feed them. And we are getting new chicks in a few weeks. I have a feeling new fluffy chicks will begin healing my heart.

Even while I’ve been busy with farmstead stuff, and it’s spring, my favorite time of the year, I’ve kept to my writing schedule. So, I’m on the road to writing the next three novels in the Snowflakes series. And helping plant our spring garden!

Just disced field garden plot

I’ll let you know what we plant in a few weeks. For more about our farmstead, follow us on FaceBook, The Jake & Jewel Farmstead! More pictures of Hank, the geese, ducks, chickens and even some recipes I’ve collected, are there!

The Snowflakes series is contemporary, clean and wholesome romance filled with love, family drama and thrilling, page turning, faith building stories for your heart. Whew! That was a mouth full!

The series’s overarching inspirational theme is how God knows the beginning of our life’s trials to the end. Each story has unique characters in situations where they have to rely on their faith in God to see them through. Much as our own life!!

But the whole series, all nine books–six published–and three more to come, has an overarching inspirational theme of how God always looks out for us. Over the years I have seen this for myself. He is a good, good Father, indeed. He is Jehovah Rohi, the Lord my shepherd! He shepherds us through every trial life throws at us if we let Him in.

I know the predators coming to our farmstead is life out here. It was a trial I had to endure. As my heart broke and I blamed myself, I knew my Lord, my Jehovah Rohi, my shepherd was with me. We’ve never had anything quite so terrible happen out here. I needed Him. And my Shepherd was there comforting me.

I do take my life experiences and weave them into my stories. Maybe I will with this one, in time. Right now it is still a little raw.

My snowflakes series will make you smile, as well as a few tears welling up.

The characters deal with serious, and even heartbreaking circumstances. They will warm your heart as you fall in love along with my characters. After all, these are romance novels! Each happy ending will leave you with a warm, satisfying feeling. And I hope help grow your faith in our Heavenly Father.

If you haven’t already, snap these fulfilling stories here today! Here are the first six books, in order. Get the whole series and binge read on thrilling sweet love, romance and stories that the twisting and turning events will keep you turning the pages for more. And sprinkled in is a little bit of mystery for the mystery lovers.

The story continues in the next three books as you begin to learn how the actions of one person can trickle down through time causing heartache and pain. Through the heartache and pain a loving God intervenes each step of the way with His love, kindness and gentle grace. God always wants to give us a happy ending. Sometimes it is not the one we expect! My characters find this out in their lives as well.
